"Wait! I've seen this before!" "This looks familiar!" And, "How cheap is that?" This is typical internal dialog that your mind goes through when you watch a video that looks like it is recycling that...special something!
Are you experiencing 'deja vu? Don't worry! You probably might not need to see a doctor...maybe. Because, Hollywood is on a budget. And, if they can get away using the same things to make a nice looking production, then they might also assume that viewers might not recognize it.
Well, I'm here to blow the whistle! Here are three music videos that not only use the same "thing" in a production, but the same whole set! And, there's not even a hint of shame!
"I Love You Came Too Late" - Joey McIntyre
Remember "New Kids on the Block?" I'm sure you do! Well, some of them went solo including Joey McIntyre. And, with his song, "I Love You Came Too Late," the producers probably figured they want to make a simple music video about a guy being miserable in a diner. Not a bad concept, right?
"Forget You (Clean Version)" - Cee Lo Green
Not a bad concept, indeed! In fact, that concept is so good that Cee Lo wants a piece of it. I'm surprise that, as we watch young Cee Lo growing up to become the older and more successful Cee Lo, we did not see Joey McIntyre sitting and being miserable at the bar! Oh, wait! He's probably singing and dancing in the kitchen! Now, that makes sense!
"Want U Back (US Version)" - Cher Lloyd
When the producers of U.K. pop singer, Cher Lloyd, want to do an American version of the music video, "Want U Back," I guess they were going for something more original. Like, instead of a guy being miserable in a diner, (Cee Lo and Joey McIntyre) why not a girl? Now, that's a twist of a classic idea and let's toss in some singing and choreography too! Something tells me that an American was probably the one that suggested it. And, it's probably the same American that whispered the same concept to Cee Lo and Joey McIntyre. Conspiracy!
Seriously! If I was the owner of this diner, then I would be furious of all the singing and dancing customers that keep showing up. The place must get pretty annoying! How many times does a performer have to stomp choreography on that bar! I certainly would hate to be a server there having to wipe up foot prints! Maybe, the cops were called during the Cher Lloyd video because the workers can no longer take it!
